According to the PIA, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), is providing P5,000 in cash assistance to qualified tricycle drivers to help them manage rising fuel costs and maintain their livelihoods. This initiative, known as the Cash Relief Assistance (CRA), is being distributed to members of Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODA) across the country to provide temporary financial relief.

In the town of Caba, La Union, 583 TODA members recently received this payout. The distribution is part of a broader effort across the province to support transport workers who face declining earnings due to fluctuating fuel prices.

The assistance is intended to help drivers cover daily operating expenses and household needs, including school-related costs for their families. DSWD Field Office 1 Regional Director Marie Angela S. Gopalan stated that the program aims to provide stability for vulnerable transport workers who are essential to maintaining local mobility in municipalities like Caba and the rest of La Union.

The DSWD continues to roll out these payments to eligible drivers throughout the province. Officials have encouraged recipients to prioritize the funds for immediate family needs to ensure continued household stability.
