According to the PGLU and the Rosario District Hospital, healthcare professionals and dental advocates conducted a two-day health and hygiene education campaign for elementary and high school students on February 12 and 13, 2026, to promote preventive healthcare and wellness through lectures and practical demonstrations.

The initiative, organized in partnership with the Health Promotion Committee and the Philippine Dental Association Inc., directly benefited Grade 12 students at Santo Tomas National High School in Rosario, La Union. The outreach team also visited Ambalite Elementary School in the neighboring town of Pugo, La Union, to train 137 elementary pupils.

For the high school students, medical personnel led discussions on critical adolescent health issues. These sessions focused on teenage pregnancy, depression, smoking cessation, and HIV awareness to help older students make informed lifestyle choices.

Meanwhile, the sessions for the younger pupils at Ambalite Elementary School focused on foundational personal hygiene. Healthcare workers provided live, interactive demonstrations on proper handwashing and toothbrushing techniques to encourage healthy daily habits.

Hospital officials stated that the joint program is a key component of their ongoing community outreach and preventive healthcare efforts. The activity aligns with the province’s broader goal of fostering unified, community-centered healthcare services across La Union.
